[Silver is Silver is Silver. Upon finally waking up, he immediately tries to pull himself up... And it's a bad idea. His head spins. Despite the fact that he's awake, he's still very weak, and trying to act like he's not gave him a big reminder of that. He rethinks his actions and slowly pulls himself up into a seated position.

So where is he? What time is it? How long has he been out? ...Where's his journal? That's the most important thing right now, he has to-

There it is.]

[His handwriting is downright awful, but it's legible, especially since he's slow enough about it. And he only has one thing to say.]

Is it over yet? None of you died, right?

[The you is directed at the people he knows, but he is far too drained to make that distinction or ask much else. ...Might be a good idea to let him know just how late to the party he is.

Or visit him. There's always the visiting option, although that option might not be pretty; as long as it's been, it still doesn't change the fact that he more or less looks like he's about to die, like he won't open his eyes if he closes them again. He barely even has the energy to hold himself upright.

But company would be nice, especially since he's... Not exactly going anywhere. He has his Pokémon, of course, they're all but hovering over him because he's okay and he's finally awake (jeez guys, calm down,) and he even has Chandelure in his arms (because he needs to be reassured that everything's alright and that he Did Good,) but it would be reassuring to see that everyone's, you know. Okay.

And absolutely not the other way around, because he's totally just tired.

[Trust. Trust. It's such a hard word to admit to, but it's true. He even tenses up saying it. It's left him in an awkward and uncomfortable state of vulnerability. But... It's still true.]

[It catches him off guard: which is to say there's a shift in his posture (he sits straighter, more focused), followed by a long pause. Like he's waiting for a catch to that.

When it doesn't happen...]

We're friends, you and me. I can stay for a while, until you figure it out. And if you don't, there's tomorrow. There's not a limit here.

[The pause leaves him relatively tense- it's not as bad as it could have been since he lacks complete awareness, but friends.

It settles Silver down entirely, and... He simply smiles, any questions temporarily forgotten. It's an uncharacteristically carefree and unrestrained smile. Friends.]

[He smirks again, gentler and more amused. You really didn't get that until now, did you?

It's obvious from his body language that that's a good thing. And... today has really sucked. The past week or so in general has been a time in which Shikamaru can't say for positive that he cares for this place, or even knows what he's doing anymore.

Friends though... there's purpose in that. Here, Silver. You know how to bump fists, right?]

[You better believe that he does. Brofist, aw yeah.

Even through the terrible, awful things, through a reality check, through questioning what's right, what side he's on, and what he has to do... That's one thing he's learned full well.]

[Good. The important holes in your education have been covered.]

[Yes. Yes they have been.

But friends... Friends definitely brings out the questions.]

It's so different here than it is at home. At home, I know exactly what I'm supposed to do. Here, I've got no idea.

Silver, you're not going to find anyone here who has the answer to that.

I know. It's why I said "got a clue," not "have the answer."

Even then... Just one thing won't do it. [He sighs, and runs his left hand through his pulled-back hair before letting it drop again.] How do I put it...

...this world is a mess. [He frowns, thinking back to the draft. And he thinks that Silver will know what he means with that. He's seen it.] We all want to live our lives to the best of our ability, even here. But ask yourself how can we do that in a world we don't understand?

[...He thinks it over. He remembers Rin, and his complete ignorance of the situation.]

It's impossible. [All the people from Kin'cora- he wasn't even around them for that long and still remembers what they said, what they did, how they acted.

Everything he's read over that secure network. All the information people worked for.]

There's only so much you can do without understanding and adapting to what's going on around you. [Yet he's been so resistant to change, to getting involved, to doing anything. Because of his morals and fixed perceptions on the situation.

Stupid. He can't do that. He never should have tried to.]

[He nods. You're onto it now, Silver.]

I had the same problem. There's still a lot of questions... but going outside this barrier from time to time has helped me place things better. With that understanding, I've been able to make myself useful here too.

[His eyes shift and narrow, though. Distracted. Because even as he says this, he thinks back to what Masaomi told him. To what happened to Korras Blake. To the people in that hospital, in the Death Penalty Syndrome ward.

It's not enough.]

[He almost responds, but...

It takes a moment, but Silver can tell that something's off.]

There's more you're not saying. [It's a fact. He's not pressing Shikamaru for answers, but he's not about to say nothing, either.]

[Shikamaru makes a sound that's something between a grunt and a sigh. He sags a little, or as much as the brace on his shoulder will let him.]

It's really important to learn things here. [He looks back to Silver.] I can't stress that enough. But information doesn't do anyone shit if you sit on it. People need to be on the same page.

[I should have said more. That guy was an idiot, but what happened to Korras Blake might have been adverted if I had made the potential of alliance with him more widely known.

No kidding. But I hate making my life needlessly troublesome.

Doing nothing but watch this place continue on in such a way, never improving... That would be very troublesome.
